Core Get User Courses Weirdness

Hello, 

Can someone explain why certain courses do not appear when using "core_enrol_get_users_courses"?  We noticed that when the course settings Groups mode is set to Separate groups the course is not retrieved with the "core_enrol_get_users_courses".  Is this the desired outcome?

We are using moodle 3.9.12.
